It's a larger issue than Modi versus Congress

i find that my blogs on modi have generated a lot of interest and response. what comes below is my response to one of the comments:

@ -----don't get me wrong. am no great congress fan. all i am saying is when human lives and dignity are sacrificed at the altar of ideology and politics, all thinking citizens should pause and do some soul searching - and speak thru the ballots. only then democracy becomes a salutory, effective mode of governance and of ensuring equity.you have suggested the lesser of the two evils(modi and congress). no. that's not the answer. we should be thinking of options. like a fractured majority which will put brakes on such decisions that caused the post genocide killings. no government can justify that. godra is the mesdeed of miscreants. what followed is state engineered.
for a lesson from history, kerala was spared the atrocities of the emergency 'cos a coalition govt. was in place during that period. so much so, to a large extent, the state enjoyed only the benefits of the emergency. no wonder congress govt. was re-elected, and stray incidents (like the rajan case) were seriously taken up.we citizens should rise above political affiliations and ideologies (be it those of congress, left or extreme right) so that our ancient indian value of respecting life will be perpetuated in this nation.
hard core pragmatism sometimes blinds us to fundamental, indispesable human values.
by the way, i still havent got that definition for the term 'integrity' when used with reference to modi.

  1. First of all, I cannot believe that the Godhra train burning incident was a misdeed of some miscreants! I cannot even believe that any karsevak has died, as claimed, in the bogie burning!! Because:
    (a) Have we seen photograph or name of any of the victims in newspaper, TV or through any other media?
    (b) Has any kith or kin of the victims come forward saying they had lost their son, brother, sister, father, mother, friend, or anybody in the incident?
    (c) Photograph of the burned bogie, as we have seen in newspaper and TV, clearly shows the burning scar on the bogie only from above the windows towards the roof. From which it is clear that the fire was started from inside not from outside the bogie. Had the fire started from outside, lower part of the windows would also have got burned leaving a scar. A forensic expert’s mind is not required to understand this, but mere common sense can tell this.
The bogie burning was meticulously planned to unleash the state-sponsored pogrom on a particular community.

Mr.Dharmesh Patel has all praise for Modi’s development in Gujarat. Well and good. He should be appreciated. But wasn’t that his job? A chief minister, came to power with people’s mandate, under Indian Constitution, is bound to look after the well being of citizens and work for over all development. What is so surprising in this? He is an elected representative not a crowned king. Mr. Patel seems to look upon Modi like king. This is absolutely disgusting in a democratic set-up. Development is the right of people in a democracy. Not at the mercy of the ruler. His developmental achievements can never justify the carnage he had, as CM of a state, administered against a particular community. Whatever good things he has done cannot overshadow the brutality his administrative machinery inflict upon innocent and hapless men, women, children aged whom he was supposed to protect. And, Mr. Patel, you are talking about terrorist attacks. No terrorism is more terrific than state-sponsored terrorism.

All these killings were done in the name of Hinduism. I am also a devoted Hindu. My question is, who the hell VHP Bajrang Dal or Modi are to talk for the Hindus of this country? Who gave them authority? Do Vedas tell to kill people in the name of Hinduism? Which scripture of Hindus tells to gash out foetus from womb? You know, Hinduism is an ocean of civilizations, which has been taking everything into its fold from time immemorial, and not just a mob howling for human blood with trident, fluttering saffrons and tilak. We are all – Hindus, Muslims, Christian, Sikh, etc. - drops in this ocean. Leading lights of this culture like Buddha, Mahavira, Vivekananda, Paramahamsa, Ramanamaharshi have always preached against killing of even smallest creatures. Killing people in the name of Hinduism is demeaning a great civilization. Modi has brought disgrace to my culture, my civilization - yours as well. I feel, as a Hindu, guilty upon his action since I too bear the sin. Developments cannot make him a saint or hero. History will only know Modi synonymous with brutes like Nero, Hitler, Mussolini, Idi Amin, etc. Even after Gujarat is flooded with milk and honey because of Modi’s development, as Mr. Patel claims, let me ask, why the riot victims are still languishing in camps without basic amenities like drinking water, health supports, schooling for children, etc.? (yesterday only BBC reported this.). Are these people lesser citizens of Gujarat?

Mr.Patel clearly portrays a typical middle class Gujarati mind-set. If new roads are built; electricity is available; business is flourishing (applicable for Hindus only?), morality and humanity can take a back seat, as these qualities do not bring money and comfort. These qualities can be framed and hung in glittering letters in drawing rooms where the family members sit together to enjoy the videos of the Great Riots of Gujarat. Shame itself is ashamed of us!

  3. People on one side of fence see/feel that other side is evil and opposite too is true.

No matter what- - the above two category of people just bark till we have another world war.
Now, there is a third category; the atheist -- they drop in ideas and philosophy to their own pleasure.

Actually, if you see the babri masjid voilence, godhra, etc... incidents. The common factor of these incidents is a sense of hatredness created mutually, which was and is incremented since the mughal invasion and Christining of india. :) ( no sarcasm )

i read one of the above comments -- he says, who gave modi and people-alike, the power to act behalf on other hindu's?. Let me ask a question to hindu people( read : psuedo-secular hindu's just for namesake )

Who gave the power to you to sit silent, when there is a mayhem?? No, you sit at your home; protected, safe with a TV and computer at your hands to listen gibberish and bark out at people?

Also, he mentioned about names of the people died in the train tragedy that never appeared!!. I wonder really, did Media forgot to mention that? or they forgot to mention that because they were from majority side of the fence? or they thought who cares for this majority anyway?

The media - as you have put across in your blogs are pathetic and a shame on Journalism!! plus they are equally biased on so many factors.

Anyways, i am ti"RED" of these psuedorationalist or psuedoseculars.. or whatever. Adios

Your Blog makes a great reading. A token of appreciation for your blog world
